Canadian University Dubai and University of Oxford launch MENA Global Health Network

Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has officially launched the MENA Regional Hub of The Global Health Network (TGHN) in collaboration with the University of Oxford. The launch event took place on October 21, 2024, at CUD, marking a significant step in advancing health research, education, and practice in the Middle East and North Africa region.

This new hub aims to strengthen the capacity of public health education and policy, addressing unique regional challenges. The initiative will also focus on leveraging artificial intelligence in public health, facilitating knowledge exchange, and improving health research capacities. As part of this collaboration, CUD will serve as the premier regional hub, coordinating efforts with various organizations, including the World Health Organization and other academic institutions​

The MENA hub is expected to develop an open-access digital platform that will provide resources, eLearning modules, and tools for collaboration among healthcare stakeholders. This initiative reflects ongoing discussions initiated at the 2022 Global Health Network Conference, emphasizing the importance of research capacity in low and middle-income countries​
