Pakistan accusation of suicide bombing on Baloch women, questioned

Baloch women fear crackdown after Karachi suicide attack | Pakistan | The Guardian

Quetta (Pakistan), September 26 (ANI): Pakistan accuses Baloch women of being the victims of a suicide bombing. Pakistan makes a new attempt to discredit the peaceful struggle in Balochistan by claiming to have nabbed a female suicide bomber. Activists around the world, on the other hand, are questioning Pakistan’s claims for their veracity.
Members of the Balochistan government presented an alleged Turbat woman at a recent press conference in Quetta.
Shahid Rind, the government’s spokesperson, and Farah Azeem Shah, a member of the Balochistan Assembly, claimed that the woman had been caught before she could carry out a suicide bombing in Balochistan.
The Balochistan Post reported on Thursday that activists questioned not only the claims made by government representatives but also the contentious nature of the press conference.
“The actual suicide bombers attacked in 11 districts in a single day,” stated Kiyya Baloch, the Communication Officer of the Norway chapter of Pen International, in response to the same in a post on X. In reality, the woman who is depicted in the media as a suicide bomber got married against her parents’ wishes. The girl called her parents and informed them that she would not be returning, and then what transpired is before you.”
The Balochistan journalist community has questioned the selective and opaque nature of the government’s press conference, claiming that only a few reporters were invited. This is according to the TBP report.
According to the same TBP report, the Balochistan government has previously made similar allegations that women are involved in suicide attacks. Women from Kech and Quetta were similarly detained and presented as potential attackers in a previous incident, but they were released despite public outcry and a lack of evidence. ANI)
